RIBA Regional Awards shortlist announced.

August 12, 2009

The Royal Instititute of British Architects (RIBA) East Midlands has shortlisted twelve regional building projects for its 2009 awards for architecture.  The awards are sponsored by Ibstock Brick and the East Midlands Development Agency (emda), and seek to promote and celebrate examples of architectural excellence in the region.

It is pleasing to see that a wide range of buildings across housing, education, retail, the arts and commercial sectors, with a particular focus on environmentally friendly and  low carbon design solutions are amongst those shortlisted.  It is always good to see innovative and sustainable design applauded.  I know that I have picked my personal favourite and look forward to seeing whether the awards panel agree!

On behalf of Opun, I wish all of those in the running the best of luck.

For further information and details of the twelve shortlisted schemes please follow the link to Issue 128 of the regional RIBA newsletter here.

    James,

It’s good to see OPUN publicise RIBA’s awards. Do you plan to publicise RTPI and RICS East Midlands awards also.

    Kind regards

    David Bainbridge

We are happy to promote the good work done by organizations such as the RTPI and RICS, particularly where it relates to the advocacy of good design.

Awards that recognize best practice are an important tool in highlighting the progress that the East Midlands is making in its attempts to raise the bar for planning and design across the region, and helping to drive this forward in the future.

I look forward to publishing details of the RTPI and RICS winners once announced!
